I am always trying to share the news about these amazing birds. They have been so rewarding for us and I want others to experience the same joy. I'm so glad you have made a definitive choice.
Now to find some...any suggestions?

I just googled Buff Orpingtons for sale and this what I got. There are many more out there. I got mine from a local feed store that received them from Townline Hatchery here in Michigan where I live. I also got 2 of mine off of Craigslist. I hope this helps!

If they are like me I do not want anymore Orpington want to be's. The last I got from a hatchery were a real disappointment. They were smaller than ever before and one simply jumped from its perch and broke its leg. What is going on. I want the big fluffy orps I could get about 6 yrs or so ago. I give them the best feed. The nice home and big runs. I do not cut corners. I am waiting for some English and American mixes to show up. Maybe they will be better. Or someone who really works on keeping the size and egg laying ability together. Does anyone know anyone like that????

I am also trying to find true to SOP Buffs! Seems impossible, especially here in the west, I can't find a single breeder here in AZ. Lots of people have them, but they are hatchery stock and only half as big as they should be. I would die to have some of Dragonlady's stock, but I am very scared to ship birds now after the PO massacred my chicks.

I have had ZERO problems with shipping Juveniles. I do not sell baby chicks, or eggs. I have some very large, fluffy English- American cross 8-10 week old trios available now. It will soon be too hot to safely ship until fall though. Anybody wanting some to show , or breed from this fall , please contact me now. There are tons of photos of my birds on my BYC page.

dragonlady????? Where is she from? I have not really been keeping up.
I'm from Camden, S.C. I have really BIG buffs. My Hens are weighing in at 10lbs. plus at 1 year, and my cock bird is over 14 lbs. My hens have been laying for almost 10 months, and are in full molt. They are still laying right through the molt. I wish they'd stop, and just grow feathers, but they have a real work ethic. My pullets start laying at 5 months, and are very large at that age.

Four month old English, and 50% English x SOP pullets showing my birds' true color.

4 and a 1/2 month old pullet who will be shown this fall. Taken on a very cloudy day.

My 100% English Cock bird, Monty, at 10 months with the SOP girls

They really look pretty. And you really can not be convinced to sell eggs! I wonder how far Camden is from Franklin. I will have to look that one up. I make it a point never to buy any chicks that are reared on anyone elses property. I got disease years ago and lost a whole flock and said never again. But I have been known to drive forever to get eggs to hatch when I am able.

Oh my goodness, I just looked up Camden, I wish I had known about you the first of April. I went by you on 20 then on my way to my mtn home. I could have met you somewhere. Wow! I really would have loved that.

They are big.. my friend and his wife came down from upstate..Vickie..he carried your cockeral around under his arm like a baby.. this afternoon.. he was picking up a couple blk orp chicks.. It was a big bromance.. He said Oh my lord.. they are Heavy!! The bird seemed to soak in every second of the attention..he even sat on his lap in the lawn chair..while we were talking..before he left he said, well big fella..if I could fit you in a pocket..I would take you with me..but Lynne would catch me before I got 2 steps
It was so neat to watch just how friendly they are..

I have a closed flock. Nothing comes in here. Everything is tested too. This was clean ground when I made this 100 year old carriage house into my home 23 years ago. My birds tend to die of old age at about 10 or 12. The whole crew is extremely healthy, and I insure it by worming on a regular basis, and keeping runs and roosts very clean. Come look. You are not that far. Just bring shoes that have never been in a chicken yard.

See AVECA'S post above. She has a trio from me, as does GALANIE. I guess I forgot to mention that that my birds are almost too friendly. They tend to get under your feet. Nice though, to have really large cock birds who are so gentle.
