I have had ZERO problems with shipping Juveniles. I do not sell baby chicks, or eggs. I have some very large, fluffy English- American cross 8-10 week old trios available now. It will soon be too hot to safely ship until fall though. Anybody wanting some to show , or breed from this fall , please contact me now. There are tons of photos of my birds on my BYC page.

I am seriously considering it, but it would have to wait at least until fall. Before I spend that kind of money on birds I will have to build Ft. Knox to keep them in! There are just too many things here that eat chicken and I certainly would not want anything to happen to them! I am just afraid that even with the electric fence something might happen. When I get the new chicken house finished and the new runs made with 7' fencing and 4 hot wires I might feel they would be safe enough then. In the meantime I will drool over your pics and daydream!

I'm from Camden, S.C. I have really BIG buffs. My Hens are weighing in at 10lbs. plus at 1 year, and my cock bird is over 14 lbs. My hens have been laying for almost 10 months, and are in full molt. They are still laying right through the molt. I wish they'd stop, and just grow feathers, but they have a real work ethic. My pullets start laying at 5 months, and are very large at that age.

Four month old English, and 50% English x SOP pullets showing my birds' true color.

4 and a 1/2 month old pullet who will be shown this fall. Taken on a very cloudy day.

My 100% English Cock bird, Monty, at 10 months with the SOP girls

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING BIRDS....One of these days....

IMHO, one could not find better Buffs ANYWHERE. PERIOD. I have scoured high and low looking at this variety of Orp. These are truly supreme.

Thank you everybody for your compliments on my Buffs. These birds are a joy, and a labor of love to me. Of all the breeds I have raised, these are my favorites. It took me a long time to find the lines of Buffs I wanted to breed. I did not want to use Rock, or Wyandotte blood on SOP birds. Thankfully I was able to take advantage of the imported Buffs Marc Sacre brought in. The first legally imported purebred Buffs in 50-60 years. I hope that since I have now shipped quite a few of these young birds to all parts of the country, the breed will benefit for years to come.

Meanwhile, watching my flock ranging on grass feeds my soul every day , and the birds' personalities continue to amuse me.

Thedragonlady's birds are indeed everything she says they are. I am lucky enough to have a trio of them that were hatched by her around Oct 1st. The pullets started laying at 5 months and lay a large egg almost every day. I have not been as "hands on" as she is or Aveca but they are still under my feet. I cannot just reach down and pick up the cockerel, but if I do get my hands on him (and he isn't all that difficult to catch really) he's just as good as the gold he looks to be.

Gave him a bath the other day to clean his bottom and clipped the feathers around his business end and he never moved a muscle. Just patiently stood during the entire process, even when I left him on the table to go get a camera to share his hilarious picture (poor dripping wet guy with a very resigned look on his face) with her.

Here's a picture of them I took about a month ago:

By the way, the one on the extreme left trying to hog the camera is a hatchery hen.

Maryhysong,
As I can not afford these beauties at this time, I to will wish all who get them well and enjoy the pictures until someday I too can get a few.

Demanding kids for your attention though. I raise spoiled brats ! These chooks look quite content. I'm sure they have Sarah well trained !

Indeed they do! And that boy has learned that if he crows during the day, I'll open the door to see what's going on. They get to go out front with the rest of the gang now for some scratch and a chance to dig in the rose beds at 6:00 and always try to rush it up a bit. So he was crowing at 5:30 while the girls were pecking at the back door. Spoiled indeed! I'll have to get a picture of them crowded at the door saying "Hurry up!"
