I haven't wormed mine either...... Good question!
Both you and Cyrus. You need to WORM ! Chicks are born with worms from inside and outside the shell. I worm at 2, 4, 6, weeks with Wazine at 1 tsp per gallonof water . At 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 weeks, my Orps are wormed with 1/2 CC Safeguard 10 % liquid Goat wormer. Each bird gets it down the throat. Grown birds get 1 CC. after 20 weeks.

If you are not worming, and DUSTING , you are stunting your birds. The parasites are eating more than the chickens. And NO, diatomaceous earth, Garlic, pumpkin seeds, and all, do NOT do the job. Don't believe me...take a poop sample to your vet for a fecal. Worms kill slowly. Coccidia, which medicated feed controls, kills in a hurry. Feed Medicated feed until 4 months old.

Mine are on medicated feed, but my sister has a flock that is about 2 yrs old, and she's never wormed hers. I asked her about it, and she said she's never seen any signs of worms and she cleans her coops at least once every 3-4 days. I hear what your saying though Dragonlady, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Look at my photos, and get your sister to look at them too, especially if she has Buff Orps. Are your birds in as good condition as mine ? I clean my coops EVERY day by sifting the sand runs. I also know how to run fecal checks. Boring to keep finding worms , despite pristine straw in the roosts, and clean runs. My birds free range every day, and even earthworms carry worms.

The past 3 days I have noticed my 3 week old has stopped chirping and instead is making a clicking sound and will shake her head or open her mouth when she makes the sound. Does anyone know what this is? All my other birds chirp but she doesn't :(
She is the biggest out of the bunch although they are all around the same age she has matured the fastest.
