*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Thanks Cindy. These pullets are from my second US line. The idea is that since Monty and Max are brothers, it's a good thing to have girls from another female line. They should nick well.

I have been trying to figure out if my 8 week old chicken is a rooster or hen and breed..

rooster or hen? help!

I am super new to the chicken world. This spring was my first batch. I got my 2 "hens" at 8 week and one had a come smaller than that and turned out to be a rooster. My guess is rooster - but like I said - I am super new to all this.

yes, a pullet buff is usually lighter. A cockerel buff is darker on the back. Well, in my experience so far. Darker buffs are generally more desirable though.

Approximately 15 weeks.

Liddie's tailfeathers are starting to stick up. (on right).
Percy loves to cocka-doodle-do to get my attention.

i got two buff's about two weeks ago, saved them from a guy who had been keeping them in his bacement. and now they are a beautiful part of the flock. at first they didnt seem to know what grass was lol but now they love the back yard its rather big for the city 1/4th of an acre.
