A tip for rounding up any breed of chicken. Get a hose. Put a jet nozzle on it. Herd the birds with the jet spray. They learn in a hurry. Come in when I call you, or it WILL rain. Thanks for all the information about the Buffs It sounds like a difference of the supply er of this breed is what you are going to get as far as the breed goes.
I was hoping to get an all around egg laying meaty broody bird in other words a bird that does it all![]()
The mix of breeds I have now are not meaty and are not broody by no means but are good egg layer.
I have barred rocks& RIR & Austrolorps and some sex links forgive the spelling.
I may have tried to place all my eggs in one basketwith the Buffs.![]()
There is one other question I have among the different breeds I have I noticed the Buffs to be more voicterus in there complaining when it is needed to catch them to put some up at night you would think someone was trying to kill them my Daughter noticed this as well.
I was just thinking could it be that I let my chickens free range and there burning off the extra weight roaming around I keep there feed full all the time and the table scraps they get as well and there wormed often enough I would think they had a chicken Paradise.
