*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Here's Henrietta at 9 weeks...She is simply the 'peach of my eye'...She has such a lovely way about her too...very stately even as a juvenile

I feel so lucky to have her...the only Buff Orp I have currently...she's in good company with her 5 Buff Rock friends though. Somehow she knows she's different...do you think she actually sees that her own legs are white instead of yellow like everybody around her??

adorable! I love the huddle. She looks just like my Sophia Pecktrillo, but Sofia lacks those cute fluffy "thighs".

She knows she's special ! You're doing a great job with these chicks Cindy !

How cute!! I can't wait to see my beautiful girls growing up! They r sooo adorable already, but at 4days old, I'm afraid to handle them much. I don't want them to get too cold! :( And we r soooo not having August weather here!

She's a beauty :love

Thanks everyone!!!
I didn't breed them so I cannot take credit...I am just the caretaker and admirer

They get out of their run for a few hours in the early morning and again in the late afternoon/evening. I strategically place edible 'treasures' here and there on their grazing area, bushes and around trees. Here in AZ we do not have alot of worms/bugs..so, I 'hide' mealworms, rolled oats soaked in milk, and fresh corn kernels...they manage to find them efficiently!!

My little BO was messing around in the nest box the other day. I was telling my husband how cute it was that she was practicing despite being the tiniest and palest amongst the pullets. This morning I was shocked to let the birds out and see the BO with comb and waddles three times the size they were last night and flaming red. Of the pullets, she may be the first to lay after all (which is weird because they are only 17 weeks and the other pullets are a BSL and EE - typically earlier layers).

LOL there was talk on a thread the other day maybe yellow house(Joseph) said it but the size of their brain('bout the size of a pea) was mentioned and the proportion(%) of it was huge that is to be believed to be used for their sight.

anyway a little story on their sight is I had purchased some mustard green seed a few years ago when I lived over in Cajun country anyway not a single one of those seed sprouted that I sowed out there in the garden, this is lose sandy soil mind you so the seeds didn't just lie on top of the soil, some had to have sank down in the dirt surely. So off I went, back to the hardware store to purchase MORE seeds and I just had to tell the clerk the story of how the chickens must have eaten everyone of those seeds and his response (in the best cajun accent I can do an a typewriter) was "Dey shore got more better eyes dan us" LOL
