*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Hey! I was wondering how you guys get your birds so deliciously plump? I am looking to show my birds and I would like some input on how to plump up my chicks. I am getting my chicks on the 19th and was wondering if there was anything that I could do?

As orpingtons get older, they feather out very nicely. Even skinny hens that have been broody too long look plump.
That is why you really need to keep an eye on your broodys and make sure they are getting food. You can not really tell unless you pick them up.

Miss Eggness is now just shy of 31 weeks. She just started to get a little rosey in the face, but no wattle and not much of a comb yet. (Don't mind her diaper straps haha) she's still topping out at 2.5 lbs and eats like a mini horse. As I write this she is darting in and out from underneath the wood stove. It's her favorite place. But don't worry it doesn't smell like chicken in here because there is a guard that keeps it just warm and not hot under there.

Edit: for anyone who missed it or forgot because it's been a while. This little gal hatched from my giant orpingtons and has decided to stay stunted. It earned her a spot inside with the dogs...just for winter ;)
