*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Yes
I have a six year old daughter that needs constant reminders that the chicks aren't stuffies or toys or here for her amusement.  2 and 4 is pretty little;  I suspect your Buff chick is in self defense mode the minute she sees people.
The other possibility(although my first guess is too much handling) is that she is hungry.  Is she developing at the same rate as the other chicks?

Yes she is developing at the same rate as the others. Wow ok...so yes it's probably defense mode then. Ugh. I will pull the reigns back a bit then on my 2 little helpers and maybe give the chickens some more one on one time with just me.

I love seeing what my buffs will look like all grown up. Your chickens are all beautiful. Here is my girl Bernice at 9 weeks. She's my favorite (shhh don't tell the others).
Bernice is a cutie!
They grow fast, she'll be clucking and laying eggs before you know it.

Can anyone remember the little duckling Bella hatched out last year? Well she went on to have babies this year. They all love their grandma Bella!

Thank you both! I love their little family! I live in England :)
Well, it's simply lovely. And your hens are beautiful. I love seeing your photos of happy, healthy hens doing their chicken thing. I hope you are not offended but I'm totally in love w/ Bella. So much so that I named one of my babies Bella. She's a Partridge Cochin and we call her Ciao Bella because I think her feathers are simply stunning. She's only 14 weeks old in this photo and has a lot of filling out to do.

Wow, seems like lots of us have a 'Bella'! Lovely bird, by the way! We got our 4 buff orpington chicks last April at one month old. I had picked out 3 names, and hubby came up with BELLA for the 4th, and ours is a sweetie too!

A few weeks ago our Bella was limping a bit, probably from a jump from a perch. She is right as rain now, but she spent one day wearing a chicken apron, and sitting in an old 'poop proof' chair from the attic. One of our yorkies, Sasha, stayed by her side for hours.
