Certainly a cockerel, since most cockerels don't start developing spurs until they are a year old or more. Hens usually never develop spurs, though you will get the odd older hen with spurs
 
Hmm well the spurs are definitely bigger than most hens, maybe this bird isn't quite as old as 6 months?

If it is a boy and it could be sure is different from any of my buff orpington roosters and I've had 5 in all
But I do agree either way buffs are the best
 
My family looked at the pics and they vote hen too, look at the bottom, is it more vent like?

I definitely agree, that is a hen. Her crest may be prominent, yet her legs should be thicker at that age if she was a rooster.
How can he be a hen when he has pointy saddle feathers?
 
I would say male. See I have a 5m old lavender Orpington that's is suppose to be a rooster but looking more like a hen. Mine doesn't have saddle or hackel feathers and the spurs are still just the tiny bottons. If I could put yours and mine side by side yours is a rooster no doubt mine is a hen
