Is it possible to tell the genders of these babies? I hatched 8 total (different crosses) and so far it’s looking like 5 roosters, 1 hen, and these 2 unknown so I’m getting nervous I’m going to end up with almost all roosters. Is there any way to tell for sure?

Buff Orpington rooster crossed with my Easter Egger. Please know they were only placed in this bucket for 5 seconds for pictures lol.

What indicators are you using to decide they're roosters? Unless they're a sex-linked or auto sexing breed it's too early to tell.

For these I have no idea how to tell or if it’s possible. The others were mixed with a Dominique and the males got the barring gene that doesn’t get passed to females. I wasn’t sure if there was a way to tell with Easter Egger mixes by markings maybe. This is my first ever hatch.

With EE being mixed breeds to begin with I wouldn't think so . . .but I'm still new . . . Since you're breeding and hatching your own I'd keep records to see if any trends emerge . .males being darker . .females having more defined stripes . . . things that might take out a bit of guess work.

I can't wait until my chicks start laying . . . the oldest pullets are only 11 weeks⏳, lol.

What other crosses did you hatch? Do you have pictures of them?
