I have 3 buff Orpington chicks about 9.5 weeks old. One has had a slightly larger and redder comb for awhile. They were supposed to be pullets. In this picture the buff Orpington in the back (with the White Leghorn chick) is the one I’m thinking may be a rooster. The one more in the front and the other that’s not pictured combs are smaller and not quite as red.

Definitely a pullet. I've had 3 batches of 3 Orpingtons (Buff and Lavender) and each time I've had one in the bunch that developed a bit more quickly than the other two. That threw me off the first time. If it were a cockerel, you'd definitely be able to tell sometime between 3 and 6 weeks as his comb and wattle would be much larger and darker.

Definitely looks like a pullet to me, if it was a rooster, he would have much larger comb and waddles at that age and more silky tail feathers. It could be just an early developer.
