Apparently I have no idea what kind of chickens I have. The Barred Rock is pretty easy. I think I got the Australorp down, but I thought I had a Speckled Sussex, which turns out to be a Red Star.

Now I get looking at Gold Comet (Same as Golden or Buff Sex Link?) pictures....and I don't think that's what I have. My best guess is Buff Orp?

Anyone?

She's about 3 weeks older now, so I can get an updated pic if necessary.

Definitely orpington, pink legs and heavy feathers are a dead giveaway. You may not be sure about the barred rock though, there are many chickens with that coloring.

Why don't you post a picture of your supposed barred rock, maybe I can identify it, I have experience because I had this same problem with my hens as well. But I learned the special features of each hen to identify them.

Again, older now, so I may have to post new pics, but this is Storm the "Barred Rock."

Yep, that's a barred rock. You can tell by the comb shape and the beak and leg coloration. There's a small chance it's a roo, but there is a chance it's not either.

Man, I hope not! Laws don't allow it where I am, so I'll have to trade "it" in!
