I am new to backyard chickens and have a question about the buff orpingtons. This will be the first time we've ever had chickens of our own. I am wanting mixed flock. We plan on getting all the chickens at the same time so they grow up together. I've heard the orpingtons can be broody. We have kids who will be helping gather eggs and take care of the chickens. Will the orpingtons be a problem?

my buff orpington goes broody all the time. and she has never pecked me while getting eggs from under her and is one of the nicest hens in the flock.

Hi and welcome to the wonderful world of chickens. You will not go wrong with Buff Orpingtons, even if they occasionally go broody, they are still no trouble. I have had dozens and dozens through the years and I love them. They also make great mothers!
