Here's a young pic of my Buff roo George -- he was huge, though you can't tell from this pic -- he was killed by a fox last month, may he RIP.

Here's my buff hens running around in their coop.

I just love this hen. She is like patchwork as SpeckledHen puts it.

texaschickmama, do you know why the hens get "faded out" like that? My Buff Orps do that too, but only once they start laying. The hens have beautiful gold-colored feathers up until they start laying and then some of them gradually lose the gold in their feathers until they look kind of faded. The roosters' feathers stay gold-colored and don't ever seem to fade.

She is really the only one that has the "patchwork". The rest are nice and golden. There are different hues of buff within my flock. Mine are 1 1/2 yrs old and have molted.

Thank you everybody so much for entering! I'm back and I've judged the contest! It was so hard choosing everybody's entries were so good.
