If I understand correctly, the Red Sex Link hybrid chicken is the result of crossing two heritage chicken breeds, the Cackle Hatchery pedigree pure Rhode Island Red chicken rooster with a Cackle Hatchery pedigree pure Delaware chicken hen? As I ordered them from Meyer Hatchery, I am confused? Thanks for your input!
Most hatcheries have several different mixes that fall under the category of red/gold sexlink. It's a cross designed to produce chicks that are easily sorted into males and females at hatch as the males will have white down and the females will have red/gold shades. Any chicks with a reddish front and white booty, kinda like they were dip dyed, is a red/gold sexlink. Specific parentage unknown as they all tend to look quite similar.
