oh I'd like to see a photo of that spot, too! I have buff orps and I wasn't able to tell the gender when they were babies. we ended up with all females from our first batch, I have to say, and yet I had been SURE that at least a couple were roos because of their larger waddles and combs. but no, they were all hens.
we ended up buying a full-grown buff orp roo and now we have new chicks hatching. I am hoping to be able to tell them apart at some point...
