I live in Louisiana so the weather gets really humid and hot around here during the summer. My question is If I got some Buff Orpingtons would they do well where I live?

Buff orpingtons do fine in Louisiana. I live in south Louisiana and have a flock of 19 buff orps. I have had buffs for many years since they are my personal preferred breed to raise. You will have no problem with them here.

What part of LA are you from? I don't have any Orps. yet, but will before long. I know that Yogiman has lots of Orps. and he lives in SouthWest LA. All of his chickens have been doing good.

Just make sure they have plenty of clean drinking water and they should do just fine.

This leads me to the next thought.
Ive always reckoned a chicken is a chicken. Ive never lived where there are serious extremes of climate, so I just figure that if I could live there, then so can a chicken.

So what chickens are bad for certain locales. Are there breeds you should avoid because you live in a particular climate?
What about really hot climes? Really cold ones?

I have seen plenty on cold weather breeds but never anything on what can't tolerate the heat. Could someone start a thread on it? Elderoo makes a good point. Inquiring minds would like to know..........
