We are really enjoying our Buff Orps. They are only about 8 weeks old but they have really come out of their shell, so to speak!
They only just came friendly a few weeks ago but had many to compete with as we raised almost 70 chicks together and have only 6 Orps. We only were supposed to have 5 pullets but they shipped us 5 pullets and a roo.
I named the roo Adonis. The pullets like to get on my arms when I am feeding and Adonis is now trying to start fights with everyone to show his superiority! Once I named him he really started some trouble.
We got this breed for their great personality and calmness. Okay, Adonis needs work but I am sure after puberty he will be fine.

Happy Orpington, everyone!

My Buffs are the onery ones around here. When we let them free-range they don't want to let us put them back away but I still love them:)

Good morning! My Buff Orps are only 5 weeks old and they are super friendly... so friendly in fact that I can't get IN OR OUT of the hen house without them ALL OVER ME.

Loud? Not really, I heard them once chirping from a bit of a distance, but normally I have to get right up to them to hear them. Again though, they are still chicks essentially.
