Buff Saddleback Pomeranians, how "rare" are they? (PIC)

same size as an embden

No, a pomeranian should be closer to the size of an american buff as they are both medium breeds. A major problem I think is that people are continuously breeding their birds larger because that's what the judges are awarding. I don't like it I prefer them smaller and I may be in the minority in that mind set, but that is according to standard and that is how they should be in my opinion. My father and I have this very problem as he likes them bigger and to prove my point that year at the fair our small American buff hen took grand champion waterfowl over my uncle's large embden size buffs.

Anyways here's some pics of our buff pomers...I don't know that they're rare, I would certainly think uncommon.

this is the best size comparison pic I could find. In the middle backround the is an young embden with a pomeranian on either side one buff and one gray. The embden is much more massive in appearance, it is also fairly taller. These were goslings though so perhaps not the best example, but the best I had.

yeah, they do seem to be fairly rare. I would think that it depends on your area too, they will probaly be easier to find someplaces than others. Here in WI I only know of one person who shows them and they do very well. Two years ago I believe that they won reserve champ goose at the WI international in portage, but I think that was with a gray though he does also have buffs. Dan Fenner's his name.
We got our buff pomers from, Brian Schulte in MN the spring before he sold out, and some for our uncle who's came about from his gray pomers crossing with his american buffs. The markings are decent on some, our gander is the worst, but he carries the preferred beak and feet color for show and that is why we keep him.

What characteristics do your poms display....friendly? (Not when nesting, seems they all share that trait and I don't blame them one bit
