kfchickenlady I think it was me you are thinking about we were hatching at the same time both of us had eggs from Catdance and Sundown.
oh ok!
how did yours turn out?
You hatched more than I did , I have a dozen from Catdance three were Buff 2 are cockerels 1 pullet nice color, only one of Sundown Buffs hatched very smutty and I think it is also a he very sweet will make a nice pet it is currently growing out in my extra rooster group. I have a nice black pair, 2 splash pullets & 2 blue Cockerels, 2 Partridge Cockerels, and a single white pullet.
This is my little smutty guy he has the most unbelievable feathering on his feet that I have ever seen. There is a grey underfluff do you think this will go away as he matures I have included some pictures of him as a chick.
Muzzie, those are some nice birds! I know with the silkies, they can really change with each molt, so maybe you can wait and see what happens. It looks like he has changed a lot already from the feathering in picture. I have a super black cockerel from Catdance and 3 black hens from other breeders so that was exciting, esp since I only got one black egg from an order of 48!!
I dont have any good pics other than the babies I posted earlier, but will have to do that one of these days.
This is my first year with buffs, and I'm madly in love with them. As for name dropping...if I sell a bird that's not from my own line that I've been working on for a while, I always tell my customers what the bird's lineage is. I won't take the credit for someone else's work, be it good or bad.
Here's one my my young cockerels that I'll be using in the spring. He's got a fault that I'll have to work out, but all of his other qualities seem to be up to standard...and he's my favorite and I just can't part with him.
Pretty!!! I have a very dark buff roo that I will be using that has a reddish comb, but he is what I have, and he may produce better than himself on lighter hens. Welcome to the Buff side...
