I''m wanting to start a Millie Fleur Cochin breeding project, but I cannot find any Buff Columbian. Would buff work just as well? If not, how do I breed Buff Columbian? Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much!!! That will be very helpful. Much appreciated!Buff should work, since itās got Columbian in it.
Itās also got darkbrown, red, and dilute, but when selecting your mille fluer offspring down the road, just select those that have the right amount of spangling. And be prepared to hatch a lot.
The reason mottling is on buff columbian in mille fluer is because it has the right amount of black in it to create that black mottle. Black pigment enters faster than red, so you get the pigmentless area, black enters the feather, then red. If thereās not enough black in the genetics you wonāt get it.
Another thing that helps mille fluers is being on genetically spangled birds, because it causes that neat, triangular pattern, but itās not necessary.

Question - will the fact that Buff is Wheaten and not Partridge as Buff Columbian is affect anything? I know that Mille Fleur is generally Partridge and not wheaten, so I am curious about this.
