I have looked everwhere for some idea of whats going on with my goose. One is fine and the other seemed to have grown this growth under the beak where the skin connects. It also has a lot of green in its mouth like it is full of moss??? We have had terrible strep this week and I haven't spent much time out in the poultry area I do not have any new poultry except for some baby ducks that came from a certified place like Holderads. I will try to get pics but hope someone off the top of their head just happened to know exactly what this is. I do not know if it is a male or female. We have two but they we have never seen them mate or lay. I think I have gotten 4 goose eggs though because they are 2xs as big as my duck eggs.
Any thoughts would be great. I have really healthy poultry but am just confused as to what this is. I also have no idea how old these two are. They may be really old. They were from an auction then I bought them from the guy who obtained them.
this pic is the best my son could do right now. see the growth under the bill? this should not be there. She is eating though and not much else has changed.

I will try. I have pink eye right now and years ago some indoor birds I had died from that. I am concerned about handling her but maybe since I have gloves I will try. They are pretty sweet geese. their background is really really horrible. I have had them almost a year now though.

Wanted to update. It was definately an inpaction. The goose must have found a bone somewhere. It literally came out of the underside of the bill over several weeks. Our geese are not kept in during the summer so I do not have hands on at all. I did catch this one and did a little vet care with my son. I didn't take pics. It was nasty. No blood or puss or redness or anything, I was expecting those things. The goose was so happy to get it out she suddenly started honking like crazy. It was a great sign. She drank and swished her beak and cleaned out all these seedy looking things too. She looks great now but has these huge holes under her beak. I don't think it will ever heal but she seems good.
Thank you so much for the tip on impaction.

Put un pasteurized ACV in her water it will help keep it clean while healing.

Healing quite nicely. Never want to go through that again ever!!!
I bet not, glad to hear it's healing up so well.
