According to mypetchicken.com, I have a buff laced Wyandotte. Supposedly she was born in May and I think she's just laid her first egg. It is small and tinted pink. I also have an EE who lays small green tinted eggs. I'm wondering if maybe she is mixed since she came from someone who had a bunch of hens and roosters and didn't separate them. Is it possible she has some EE in her or is that not how it works? I only have 3 hens: BO (currently molting and not laying), the EE, and the BLW so it has to be her egg.

Pink tinted eggs is fairly normal for a Wyandotte. Wyandottes usually lay light brown eggs. However, hens often do not lay eggs that are the exact same shade as another hen of the same breed. :) Both my Wyandotte hens layed tan/cream/pink-tinted eggs that where definitely lighter than most.

However, I am not an expert. If you post a photo of the egg and your wyandotte, I bet some of the chicken enthusiasts on here would be happy to tell you if she is a mix and/or if the egg that she layed is abnormal. :D

Thank you. I'm just so excited she started laying in December in New England! I thought for sure we'd have to wait until spring.
