What a day. The dog and cat have fleas and the silkies have mites.

Now, I dont mind giving the dog a flea bath but the cats...ugH!

We actually bathe our kitty quite frequently (every time the dogs get a bath). If you kitty has claws, you might want to consider putting some masking tape or duct tape on their paws until you get them out of the tub:). Or just go to your vet and get some Revolution or Frontline to put on kitty and treat your dogs too. You will also want to treat the house if they are indoor pets. Also, try bathing kitty in kitchen sink or a utility tub. Something that is high enough to where you don't have to bend over and have much more control. It took two of us to bathe our kitty. Good luck and take lots of pics!

Awww. Poor wet soggy kitty....lol

I confess, I was too cheap to buy the frontline but am armed with foggers for the house and fleas shampoo for the critters.

My plan is to wrap cats in thin towel and submerge them in the utility sink then put shampoo on and massage in through the towel....all with the help of teenage DS's....who have already assured me that this is gonna cost me! lol

I was so excited to have made it all summer without bugs! I should have kept my big mouth shut. ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

I bathed the silkies last night and let them stay in the brooder overnight to keep them warm while they dried....they arent even speaking to me this morning. But my are they clean and shiny! Just applied mite dust to them.

6 chickens down, 1 dog and 4 cats to go...wish me luck.

You know, if you have mites, that means you have to treat the wood in the areas where the birds are, too. Permethrin liquid (usually sold as goat lice spray - check the label for permethrins ) are good for that. And the bedding near the brooder. And be sure to redust in 7 days - twice - to kill emerging mites. But since they lay their eggs in the wood cracks, and joints, and roosts - you'll have to treat there. Unless they're inside.

Doesn't look like it was a fun day!

Noooooooo. Not the coop too!

I have been using DE in the coop for about a week for what i thought was precautionary...little did I know I already had bugs. Funny that only the silkies have them. I checked everyone else and no cooties. How weird.

Update on bathing....we have bathed 3 of the 4 cats and the other one and the dog are in hiding. Silkies are still annoyed from their dousing. What attitudes! haha

We only have an area carpet in the Liv Room so that has been powdered and vaccummed as well as the furniture. All other rooms are wood and will mop them after we fog tomorrow.

Guess I'll just call this my Fall Cleaning and try to find a bright spot...lol
