Bug Report: Strange mouse behavior since upgrade on the BYC forum system

I don't know if this has affected only my computer, or anyone else, but since the BYC forum was upgraded, I can no longer click inside a message to copy and paste text. Worse yet, I have to use the UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys to navigate within my post to make corrections. On the older BYC forum, I was able to quickly use the mouse to click on the beginning of a message to make a correction, or to copy and paste text, but now all that functionality seems to have been lost. And to make things even more strange, sometimes the mouse does work like it is supposed to and I can edit normally. But most of the time it no longer works. This behavior seems only to be present on the BYC forums, and all my other text and spreadsheet programs the mouse works correctly.

I use Microsoft Edge browser on a Windows 10 laptop as my main computer for posting to the BYC forums.

I'm not having any of those problems. Can you try clearing your browser cache? If that doesn't work, can you see if you're still having the problems in another browser, like Chrome?

After days of fighting with this issue, today, the mouse/copy/paste is working fine on my computer. I have no explanation as to why it was not working the past few days, or why today it is working just fine. Again, the only thing that was affected was trying to move the cursor with the mouse in BYC forums and to copy/paste text. It all worked fine in all my other programs. Today, everything has automagically been fixed and back to normal.

If this problem repeats, I'll try to see if there is a reason for that misbehavior.

FWIW, Microsoft Edge itself might be buggy. I had some issues with my bank online website and things were not working. I called my bank's tech support, and they screen shared my computer, verified that things were not working and had no explanation. Hours later, it worked as normal and they still had no explanation other than maybe it's something with MS Edge browser.

Well, the mouse/copy/paste issue is back again. After using the copy/paste for a few posts, the mouse controls stopped working and it is back to using the arrow keys again. I can go on to any other web page and use the mouse/copy/paste as normal, but it does not work in BYC forums.

I never noticed this problem until after the major upgrade to the BYC forums last week. And, like I said, sometimes it works fine, but mostly is does not. Obviously, if I am the only one reporting this issue, it's probably not a concern for BYC.

Sorry you're having this problem, and you're correct that it's not being reported by others, so it's probably something local to your computer, browser, etc. Could be addons (like ad blockers) or any number of other things.

Maybe try another browser for a bit just to see if that helps isolate if it's a browser specific issue.

I have been trying to reduce the number of browsers I use, which is why I have only been using Microsoft Edge that comes with Windows 10 on my laptop. But yes, addons to the browser may be causing problems on my computer.

On a more positive note, last night I discovered that when the mouse starts to misbehave and won't copy/paste inside the text, if I hit the "refresh" circle arrow on the top bar next to the web address, then the mouse appears to work fine again for awhile. I guess I can live with that.

Microsoft Edge is a terrible browser. Try chrome, firefox or safari and see if that fixes the issue.

It's not that bad, and in some ways, it's better than Chome, IMO.
