Bug Zapper

Does anyone use a bug zapper in the coop? Was just thinking it might help with the flies. We live near a dairy farm and we also have cows and occasionally pigs so I'm thinking that DE might not help much.

I have a bug zapper but it is not in the coop but near them. It is not as effective against flies as those gnat-size wasps that prey on fly larvae. I receive a batch once a month. By this time of the summer, I almost have no flies as the wasps' population has built up. They work really well. This year, I have had a problem in some spots of ants eating my wasp pupae, but I put them in multiple locations out-of- reach of my chickens and Guineas.

I bet the chickens would have a feast on all those bug carcasses!
