Ok I'm grossed out last night I went to check on my girls and in their run I found cockroaches in their run. None nowhere to be found by the house. My pest control came out but wouldn't go near the run. Any I ideas on how to get rid of these critters.

Welcome to BYC! If they are in the run, they are also in the coop (likely hole up there), but there are at least a couple of ways to get rid of them.

You can clean the coop completely and spray all surfaces with a mixture of Pine Sol and Eucalyptus Oil, then set out Boric Acid where the chickens can't get into it (under some heavy concrete or rock pavers raised off the ground by a couple of bricks will work).

You can also buy a tube of Combat Gel, which interferes with the chitin of the roaches, killing them. It won't affect your chickens since they don't have chitin. Place the gel where the chickens can't eat it (again the pavers work well), and also squeeze it into the cracks in your coop where the roaches hide. Do not put out poison. If you poison the roaches, they will stop eating and they must eat the Combat Gel in order for it to kill them.

Good luck in getting rid of your roaches.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

I have never dealt with this tiny livestock, so I am not sure how to get rid of them. But you have been given some great advice and links here.

Good luck and welcome to our flock!
