Bugs in ducks feathers

I've always wondered if ducks got lice.

Well, I didn't use a recipe per se. I just threw it together. I used noodles, chicken stock, duck stock, carrots, thyme, and duck meat. That's all.

As soon as I write down the recipe, I will post it.

So I am assuming the lice do not affect the meat then? I have actually never cooked duck but have eaten it plenty and it is good stuff.

Hello,

So, please nobody take offense at this, but I'm a duck and goose Hunter. I don't raise ducks, I prefer to hunt them. I apologize if I offend anybody.

Today, I went out hunting and got a duck, but I noticed something interesting that has me concerned on if it's safe to eat or not. I was hoping somebody can help me figure it out.

There were lots of these bugs in the feathers. What are they? Is it safe to eat the duck after removing these bugs?

Any help will be appreciated.

You’ll find all kinds of bugs on ducks eventually. Oddly enough I find them mostly on divers.

How about domestic 'backyard' ducks, are they as common as bugs on chickens?
