Bugs in food

So I bought some purina game bird starter crumble a week ago. Just went to blend up a little more for some chicks we just hatched and noticed a bunch of bugs in it! Googling it looks like they may be grain mites? They are real small and black/brown.

I assume I should just toss it and get more food, but is this a common thing or did I just grab a bad bag of food. I didn't notice them at all when I first blended some...

Probably grain mites. They won't hurt them but you can put the bag in a deep freeze to kill them.

When did you buy this and was it Amazon and was it in the ca. Area ? , Every so often I see this but it hasn't happened to me yet, don't want it to honestly , I also read freezer kills them off .

I think your birds would see the bugs as a bonus. But I would kill them off, too with the freezer.
