Bugs in my chicken coop? Why aren't they eating them?

Ok, I have earwigs in my chicken coop. It seems they love the shavings just purchased. Is this common? They don't seem to bother the birds but it grosses me out! I clean the nest boxes weekly and the coop floor daily. What gives? I keep everything nice and fluffy so its easier to clean up after the chicks, but I guess I figured chickens ate most bugs....what gives? Should i treat? Any suggestions? Should i be worried about my shavings?

That's icky. I use boric acid powder around the perimeter of the house to keep out earwigs. Maybe around the outside of the coop? Or could the girls reach it there?

Mine have definitely eaten earwigs, and I'm getting tremendous perverse pleasure bringing them Japanese Beetles these days. Maybe if you caught a few and presented as a treat...I know mine take a while to first see something as FOOD, but then, all bets are off...
