Bugs in the chicken feed

Just noticed critters crawling in the bag of layer pellets.

Anybody recognize them?

Those would be the "I'm getting my money back for this bag of feed" beetle.

Those are called Weevils. Take back to get a refund.

It also looks like the feed is moldy. Feed is perishable. When you get new feed check the mill date on the bag---don't buy old feed. (i.e. more than 2 months old) Different brands put the date in different places. Purina puts it on the white ribbon sewed across the bottom, first digit being the year (9= 2019). Other companies print it on a tag or on the bag itself.

Moldy is bad. But as for bugs, isn't that just like baco-bits for chickens? I suppose the insect excrement might not be healthy.

The feed store is happy to take it back. Last bag of that feed on hand anyway.

Most definitely bring it back and ask for a refund.

Always check the mill date on each bag! I want it within one month, and will feed it within another month at the latest.
