Didn't get as much done today as I hoped. Got the HC installed on all 4 windows.

Ummm....is HC going to prevent you from opening the latch/window?

Latch is easily flipped up with a screwdriver or similar. Little push and window slides open.

It was either that or frame the outside of the windows with 2x4's and add the HC to those.

I mocked one up quickly, but didn't like the looks.

Damnit.... Glad I didn't trim out the windows yet.
Isn't the first mistake I've made during this build. And I'm very confident it won't be the last either.

As long as you have to take out all those staples to get sticker off,
maybe put the HC on a 1x frame and hinge it to remove the whole....

Don't have to remove any staples.
The outside window flange only has 9 screws. Back those out and the windows are free. And yes it took me all of 20 seconds to unlatch and slide window open through the HC.

Now, if I was creative enough. Ok, ok smart enough, I would have thought about your idea to make a hinged framework for the HC inside the coop. .

But there's no way I'm about to remove all those staples.

Hopefully my mistakes will help others in their builds.

Actually, I'm going to have "smart" chickens. They will need something to read, so I left the labels on to give them something to do.
