I went out and picked up a free shed since researching to build a chicken coop looked costly I'll post what it looks like when I'm done with a picture I don't know if the chickens will appreciate it but what the heck it's for them. If anybody's looking to build a large chicken coop go to Craigslist and look on the free stuff that's where we picked up our shed.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! Great catch there with your free shed! You sure can make some good use of it by converting. Our coop section has some great ideas that you may be able to incorporate into your shed ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/coops.12/

Good luck and enjoy your time here on BYC :frow

Scoring cheap or free materials is always fun BUT, what people think a chicken should be comfortable with, is often not the same as what they really need.

They need 4-5 sq. feet of room inside the coop (not including roosts & nest boxes).
They need draft free housing with sufficient ventilation. They don't appreciate slim, wooden rods as a roost. Chickens like 2 x 4's with the wide side up. They like to have their feet flat so they can rest their head on top of them- keeping them warm in winter. A poop board under the roosts will make it easier to clean up their deposits.

Roosts should be far enough from a wall, so birds can turn around without getting bumped., or breaking tail feathers. Some alpha birds want they highest roosts. Heavy breeds who can injure their feet jumping down - are better with something lower. Some birds with big crests and muffs or beards need low roosts because their feathers obscure their vision.
