Building A Chicken Coop.

Based on the Tractor Supply Coop thread you started you said you already have a coop that holds 20 chickens. Maybe look at expanding that coop to fit the additional birds you are wanting.
Your dad's reluctance may be because he thinks you have enough chickens already.

Good advice given above!

Good Luck

I have no clue really that's why i'm asking.

As you can see, there are a lot of different rules about how much room chickens need. They cover different situations. That’s why I suggested you follow the link in my signature.

Recently moved from Maine to TN. My hubby came home with 6 Bantam chicks yesterday so am looking for a 'Southern" designed coop. I'm sure it needs to be slightly different than the one we had up North because of predators. Suggestions?

I don’t know why it would be any different because of predators. They are pretty much the same all over. Do you have anything specific in mind?

What you need to look at more is extra ventilation and make sure you provide shade. Heat is dangerous.

We have found that in this location, neighbors do NOT keep their dogs contained at all. That's why we had to rehome our Pekins. Also, coyotes are very thick here so was thinking that we need to make a run more secure from animals digging under. And, being new here, anything we need to know about snakes in coops?

Your coop is so neat looking. Are you glad you built it off the ground? Being in TN and the hot summers, I kind of wanted mine on the ground so I could have a mandoor to open? Will keep researching. Thanks for your pictures.
