Building a coop that hides chickens from neighbors

Here are the shots from this weekend. The coop is finally almost done. The chicks are about 6 weeks old and easy too big for the dog kennel brooder. They will spend their first night out tonight.

I love what you have done so far. Question though.... What about the noise they make when they lay?
I know mine are quite loud announcing an egg has happened.
You did not say, but is there a particular reason they need to be stealth?

This looks great! I love that the girls get their sunlight because the bottom is open, but from afar it just looks like a shed or a playhouse. I'm also a huge fan of the massive hinged door that lets you into the coop.
We started our chicken adventure with a pre-fab coop, but I'm keeping this one in mind for when we need to expand.

P.S. Don't tell the husband that I have plans to expand...

Do you have wire in the eaves? I lost one of my lovely ladies to a hoot owl. It came in the eave one of the first nights that they were in the coop. Put hardware cloth in the eaves and have not lost any more of my birds.

Thank you. I was wondering about the eaves. I couldn't think of anything that would try to get in that way. My eaves are open and I'm out of town until Thursday. Maybe I'll ask my wife to put up something temporary.

I am only hiding it from the further neighbors. Basically, the entire neighborhood can my backyard. To most of them, this will look like a shed. The closest neighbours will know that we have chickens and it is okay if they hear some limited most (no roosters). But our neighborhood covenant clearly says no chickens... Oh I hope your neighbors are nice. Hens are a lot louder than you'd ever think. They sing a very loud song after laying.

Coop is gorgeous!!! Very stealthy!!
