Oh yea if you are building the coop a glass wood floor is the best! Home Depot sells a 4 by 8 sheet of it for $30.00 it is white with a texture so there is traction. Wood floor could hold odors. Just setting it out there!

I am surprised more people don't mention pdz for chicken coops. It sounds wonderful. I plan to get some.Plan for poopboards with pdz (for ease of cleaning and smell control). It was the single best thing I did for mine.
Put in more ventilation than you think you may need. Even if you are in a cold climate.
Make it twice as big (at least) as you think you will need (see post above!, so true.)
Use 1/4 or 1/2" hardware cloth. 1/4 is the only one that prevents mice from getting in.don't use chicken wire if you have natural predators in the area. raccoons can reach right through and will pull a chicken to pieces. it's gruesome and horrible.![]()
we've been replacing the chicken wire that was originally on our coops with hardware cloth. also plan for predators that will tunnel under!
