Hey! I just stumbled across this. Your house is looking great! In December, we bought 108 acres of gorgeous land and are going through the same process. We are also battling to get a construction loan. Good credit, down payment, etc., but the comps in the area are not in our favor. We'd like a sizeable house and most people on land have teeny houses or mobile homes. Hopefully something will shake out soon in the mortgage market. The guidelines are almost impossible to meet! But we're enjoying it and doing little bits at a time (like my chicken coops!). We inherited 2 donkeys and 7 goats with the land and had 4 baby goats born two weeks ago.
Good luck with everything! We moved from a bigger city to this smaller town and are living in our lake house until we can move to the farm full-time. I can't wait! I never want to leave when we're there.
I love seeing these progress pics! We had a house fire 2 years ago and had to gut the whole house to the framing. We did much of the work ourselves and now everything is new! (Our plumbers took forever, too!)
I wish you luck with this--it sounds wonderful! We have always toyed with the idea, but it's not in the cards for one reason and another. So I will follow your story and live vicariously! Post lots of pictures!
So, today we had more limestone base delivered for the driveway, and a guy with a cat to move some of the dirt that had been rutted up originally by the loggers. Amazing. I am shocked at what a difference moving a little dirt can do. We still have some more work to do, but it's starting to look like "home."
Cabinets are supposed to be done by wednesday. Countertops by the end of the week .. hopefully.
