Building a new area for the birds - Please Help me do it right.

Pics
Hi All - I was going to do an update because it is raining and yuck outside. BUT, looking at the picture I was going to post - you can't see a lot of difference from the one I posted Friday. I did get a quite a bit accomplished since Friday, it's just not too noticeable in the picture. The run section (the old coop) is almost done. The north wall, where the red next boxes are is all finished - skirted with HWC, and all the goat fence replaced with HWC. The door is built and hung, ramp to the coop replaced and even added a cabinet and bookshelf for US.

I was really hoping to build the deck today, but it is looking like that is not going to happen today. I have been cutting and installing winter panels with the roofing tin as I go. I have already removed some of them as it is starting to feel like spring during the day, but still cold at night. The one in the front, on the new coop, is there because we have Tootie and the baby chicks living there. The babies are 2 weeks today. They roam around with Momma most of the day now - free ranging with the flock.

Once I get the deck done, the girls will be able to enter into the front coop - from the front of the building (instead of going in through the back coop like they have to do now). I really fear it is going to be more of a challenge to get Tootie to roos in the new coop. Yesterday she was trying to get the babies to go into the Old coop (that is now the Rooster pad). Tootie has never been inside the new coop that I know of. She sleeps under the new coop with her babies and watches everyone else go in and out, but.. Anyway - that is my long update about nothing!

Did we lose our minds somewhere over this past year???

I have the babies that just hatched advertised locally. Today, someone contacts me about the ad - but really wanted older birds. To make a long story shorter - I sold the two Game Hens and Rudy the Rooster today! So now, I have this very large, over the top hen house and covered run for 4 hens that are not laying! 3 are too young and one is broody with chicks!

SO - I took the $$, drove 3 hours and bought a Cream Legbar Cockerel and a 55 Flowery Hen baby and 2 black sex links! All of these are brand new babies - just hatched Friday. What have I done!

So - I guess that is about it for this build. All of the remaining things will not change the photo

. Still want to add PVC waterer, doors on the storage end and a few little things. If I remember, I will post a pic of the storage end once the doors are on.

I was looking and thinking yesterday at the area. There are several places that I could set up a brooder. The storage end is one such place... what will I do? ...

It looks really nice.

1st thing I learned about building for the birds - it is NEVER really done!!

I FINALLY got the PVC water system put in the Hen House! I am going to put a separate system in the run - some day soon. I had a small system set up last year, but took it down when it froze in the winter. EDITED... PVC Dripper water in the run done this morning.

ALSO, thought I would add a picture (or two) showing what the area looked like Sept - October of LAST YEAR! 2017. I still have the end to finish on the Hen House, I keep changing my mind. I think I may make the bottom shelf a brooder.
