Building a new coop

My roof metal came today,
Wrong color and no screws to match

If anyone says anything about the screw color not matching slap them with a rubber chicken! But I know what you mean about matching stuff and doing it right.

Mine is 12" wide and 11" tall and I made it a bit short so a hen would not stand in the door a block it. The size really depends on what breed(s) you plan on having. Some of my hens will go through the door when it's only half way open in the morning, so they use 12" x 6" opening usually.

Yep, I’ve seen mine shimmy out that barely open door. Doing a forward limbo to be the first to the food...or the first away from the cockerel, one!

Update!!!
I got the roof and the siding on, I decided to only put one window in the front.
I had to tweak my plans a little,
It's working out. I would like to get the outside painted before I put the windows in, my wife painted just about all the trim, so that definitely isn't going up until its painted.

I plan on moving my old enclosed tun from my coop I'm using now, down to the new coop, it will be for the lil chicks to come out into, so the big hens cant get them, then I'm going to put the roof from the coop over the pop door so it keeps the weather out and shade for them
This is the enclosed run it measures 6'x11'

Well I got the coop painted,the windows and door installed.
Next is the trim on the outside, then I will start on the inside.

I almost forgot... my 15 little ones arrived today, they will make my flock up to 27

I still have to put an apron around the coop,
And finish up inside, I'm hoping to move the older hens in within the next two weeks. Then when the chicks get about 5 weeks old I plan on moving them into their section

I am about 90% done with the coop project. I have a few updated pictures

Two pop doors going into the covered run 25'x50' plus they get to free range, in the pastures.

The other side with 3 ,low vents and an apron going around the coop

This is the feed room as you come in the front door

This is the poop board and roost for the hens , you can see the eve vents in this picture.

This is the chick part of the coop, when they are ready to go out with the hens, I can remove the wall between them

This is a picture of the nesting boxes, under the poop board

This is the inside looking out towards the front

It's coming along , once I go get some PDZ and pine shavings, I will be moving the hens in.
