Building a PVC nipple waterer with pump - Can I use the PVC outdoors?

Hi- Love teh PVC nipple drinking system: Similar to these two videos. Here's my question.

1. Can I store the water holding tank outside rather then indoors?
2. Can I have the pvc pipe in the run rather then the coop as it is small ? 4x4x6 (6 nesting boxes and 4 roost, 18 birds)

They have a huge run and part of it is covered to protect it from rain and snow. The coop is insulated and has a bulb but we only plan on using a heat light if it drops well below. Reason being that "if" we loose power we want the birds to have adjusted naturally to the cold to avoid shock. On really bad forcasted days we will add a small gravety fed nipple system in there coop of the old waterer. As you know those can get nasty.

Not sure if you're talking about in the summer or the winter? Where are you located?

Have have this set up for the summer (everything kept outside and pvc waterer runs under the coop), and I'll be using one of the bottom two set-ups for the winter (with the water in the coop) -

SUMMER:







WINTER: I'll use one of these........... The top one a nipple comes off the pvc, the second one the horizontal nipple is screwed directly into the bucket.

Where at?

The actual nipple part, or the part that screws in the pvc?

If it's the part that screws in, try some pvc cement............ You'll never get a leak again (and you'll never remove the nipple either).
