I’m going to start building my run today. It’s 10ft long and 6.5 ft wide. I’m thinking of completely covering the bottom with hardwire cloth and putting bedding on top of it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep predators out? In my neighborhood we have coyotes, rats, and snakes. I want to protect my babies as much as possible.

Instead of placing hardware cloth across the bottom which wire is hard on the feet, why not an apron a ft or 2 out from the bottom of the pen then weight it down with landscaping timbers or blocks etc. Hardware cloth every where else.

I agree with @Miss Lydia . We use a predator apron all the way around the run instead of wire in the run. We staked our predator apron down and then backfilled and now it's completely grown over.

What are you doing for the top?

Thank you for the reply ☺️ I didn’t even know what an apron was. Started my research and it seems like a great idea!

I laid hardware cloth on the bottom of my run.
Then I laid down concrete blocks on the cloth to frame out the run (my run is built on top of the blocks).
I was able to bend the cloth around the outside of the concrete blocks to secure to the wood on the run.
I was then able to fill my run with dirt, sand, and sod.
