Building my first coop/run

Looks groovy.
Not sure how weather tight it will be, even with heavy paint, especially at the corners.

Corners will get trimmed.

someone had to ask :goodpost: :frow I wondered same

Honestly I understand why people are a little confused. I realize its not totally "normal", but I have been told by several people that coons will dig right through OSB.

We went camping one time and took a mini fridge because the fridge in our little popup camper wasn't big enough for a long weekend for all the cooking we were doing. I set a full propane take in front of the door to it. In the middle of the night they pried the side of it open and made off with all my bacon, lunchmeat, cheese and butter.

We go on vacations and I'd like to be comfortable leaving these guys alone for a few days at a time in between having a friend swing by to check in on them and top off the food and water. So if over-engineering it a bit is what it took, I'm ok with it.

Agreed. It is a little abnormal, but it’s your money and your coop and there is nothing bad that can come out of it, so do what you want.

Just out of curiosity, what would be the typical approach with this sort of set up? Just do the OSB or plywood and put the HWC on the inside of that?

I have never heard of putting HWC on the walls of the coop before, so I don’t know. However, I do think it is a good idea, OSB is not very good quality at all, and I have no doubt that a determined raccoon could get through, especially old OSB that has been through a lot of rain. If it were me though, I would probably do it on the inside of the OSB because it would look nicer. Although I’m a clean freak and it would bother me not being able to scrape or scrub the inside of the coop.
