Building my first coop/run

You better believe you can teach a chicken. They'll learn more quickly if you place treats on the ramp, "peck" at it with your fingers, etc.

Well now I know.

Definitely! The chicks will have improvement with help. And if we are on teaching chickens… chickens can be taught so many things! From helpful things to playing the xylophone (which my EE is quite good at)

Saw a big tom feral cat on the security cam today checking out the birds. He got right up to the coop and was looking at them.

I keep a break action air rifle next to the door that I use for starlings (I hate those little invasive turds, and I hate their stupid noises). I didn't shoot it, but I shot the ground near it and it took off like a rocket. It went over and sat in the neighbors back yard and watched me. If he keeps it up I'll get the live trap out and he'll go for a ride a way from me.
