My 8-month old Ameraucana cockerels are macho!

I test-incubated 5 eggs for 6 days, and they have veins! Whoot! I have a customer buying 2 dozen hatching eggs tomorrow.

My poor Phoenix rooster King just got knocked out of his top position as head rooster. He is currently inside being babied. The other roosters from his coop won't stop chasing him, the little shirts. Will be getting help to get my other two coops fixed up to get the other roosters split out from his coop now.

It be like that sometimes. My barred Naked Necker had taken over the head rooster spot when we butchered King (the last head honcho). Then we turned a Speckled Sussex cockbird loose and he has taken over. The hens all swoon over his gentlemanliness. And he thumps any rooster who comes near them. So the NN'ers rein was short lived. lol

I hope your rooster's pride isn't hurt too bad.

I set a clutch of test turkey eggs and some Red Necker eggs on Wednesday. Oh and some White Leghorn eggs for my husband's friend. I'm going to keep what I hatch to a minimum this spring/summer though due to feed costs. I will most likely sell all of the turkey poults that hatch.

Yes news like that is always well received here!

My son's Blue/Splash Ameraucanas are laying so we will be collecting those for the incubator soon. They are a fun breed. My husband doesn't like them. He says they look like owls and are "funny looking." You know what they say about opinions.

We moved the last two groups of grow outs from the brooder building to the outside brooder today, and culled two roosters in that group. Progress. It feels nice to have the building empty again, even if its just for a few weeks. lol

He's entitled! I am completely enamored with mine. I love everything about them. My DH got me outside for a bit today to sit in the shade and watch them. It got up to 90°F here! I have not been able to do that for weeks so it was a real treat.
