Building nest boxes on a slope

I'm building a new chicken coop and a lot of the books say to build the nesting boxes floors on a slope to make the area uncomfortable for hanging out and possible using as a bathroom area. I cant find notes on which side to slope. Would it be slopped down at the back of coop area or toward the front of coop area? Building it today so any help would be great.

Also what type of bedding for coop and nesting box? A lot of articles say no straw because of the little critters that reside inside of it. Any suggestions?

Do you mean as a roll out nest box?
They won't hang out in there if they aren't going to lay an egg. And if you have the roost higher than the nestbox they usually won't sleep in it because they'll feel more secure on the high up roost. If there is not enough roost space then they'll probably sleep on or in the box.

I use shavings in my boxes and straw as my coop bedding. Just for the fact that shavings are harder to throw out of the boxes. I have used straw with no issues though. Pullets tend to play with the bedding more than a hen that just plunks down to do her business.

I personally built my poop boards over top my nest boxes.

POOP BOARDS are the "BEST" addition yet. Handles well over ½ of the poop in my set up keeps ammonia smell in check 3½" below roost excellent for catching eggs laid through the night (roost are in cups for easier removal and cleaning). I recently friction fit a piece of vinyl flooring over my poop board.it makes clean up even easier; Pop out; Scrap; Hose; Pop in.

Nest boxes
In my nest boxes I fold a feed bag to fit (nest boxes are 1 ft³). When a bag gets soiled; fold a new one; pop out the soiled; pop in the new.

Easy peasy!.

Thank you all so much. The pictures were great. My nest boxes are built into my new coop so I guess I don't need to worry about sloping anything. I was clearly confused about the info I was receiving prior to this thread. Thank you all for clearing this up for me.
