Welcome to BYC!
You may have better luck if you go to your "state thread" here : https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/697050/michigan-thread-all-are-welcome - that way you'll be networking with folks more likely to be in your area.
Alternatively, this is the time of year when chicks are in every farm, feed and many pet or garden stores so if you are not opposed to hatchery stock birds that is an option to build your flock too.
I am so glad you've joined us - best of luck with your new flock!

! Pleased you joined our flock! Best of luck with your coop construction! Great advice by Ol Grey Mare! Personally, if you have the skills to build it....build it. It seems to me that most of the ones I see at local farm and ranch stores are both too small and too flimsy to hold up for more than a year or two. Second bit of advice...if you build, build it bigger than you think you will ever need - chickens are addictive and once "chicken math" takes hold, you'll hope the larger space! Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!

Welcome!

Good luck with the build and your new flock.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
