I've been like a little kid on Christmas morning about building our coop! So here's the step by step (missing a few steps lol) of the build of or coop and run:)

We bought this from a local high school for $60 ...

After we water sealed it and gave it some color.....

We then got a FREE dog kennel from my BF's co worker, this became the temporary "run/enclosure"....

We put up a fence and gave them some room to run!....

Got this FREE from the BF's work! If I remember right, it's 5x9x5....

We had to tear it apart to get in into our back yard. That whole process took about 3 hours!! That's what we get for having a fence that doesnt open!

Laid down the flooring, also FREE from BF's work...

BF had an awesome idea, we sprayed truck bed liner on the floor too keep out water and to make cleaning a breeze! Turned out pretty good!

Last step for the night was to put up the roof ( another freebie scrap from work), and then water seal it.

I'll post some more pictures as we finish the vents, putting in the chicken door and ramp and the painting! Stay tuned!

Looks great CM. I bet you can house 100 chickens in that coop.

I am also building a coop for the first time and I am about dont with it. I have the pics on my BYC Page. Just finished it up yesterday, complete with stain and a flower box.

All I have to do now is build the run and I will be ready to get my feathered occupants of the coop.

Looks great, OP! Love your red nest boxes. We are building a coop too (our first build-the current coop was a prefab) and I wanted to try to go with recycled but dh thought new would be better. I did talk him into using some boards we had for truck sides for the trim around the windows and door, at least.
