Do hoop coops really work in our cold environments?
depends on what you put in them...love the concept of putting a tarp over this...but might use flexible fiberglass that lets light in...like the greenhouses...but not sure....im going to build lots of them for sure and just simply put wood blocks around each of these units and fill with washed masonry sand....for all the ornamental pheasants...and more expensive birds will be housed in the coops that i have already built...jim from wisconsin...showed me some pics of a grow out pen for young birds and i love it....i will be building some of them as well....perfect for my situation....and super easy to build all of this stuff...anyone can do it...just need to see some pics and build as you go...im kindof a winger kind of guy...i can draw out what it will look like but when you build theres always stuff you forget about if your not using cad or some drawing program that tells you everything your going to need to get..anyhowsers...fixed my bursted water line that froze and was spraying water everywhere this morning...gqfs got dropped off.....now that i have some here ill for sure be able to build some fridgebators...that will be automatic...just sometimes you just need to see it and be able to rip it apart and see the parts for yourself...i think i might be going for roll out heat mat for the heat source...i think this might be better...however i will more then likely build two designs and run simple chicken/quail thru these units and see which one works more efficient...the other one will be put to the scrap yard...have to experiment and with that you have garbage on the stuff that doesnt fit your needs...
anyways heres some pics
there they are just unpackaged
hatching trays
cabinet hatcher
cabinet incubator
cabinet hatcher...with just one wick pad in...
cabinet incubator with just water no wick pad...
i was surprised that these units didnt come with alittle more indepth manual....and both units came with the exact manual...these units look bigger in a picture...and then you take them out of the box and go...what the....lol...but they seem to be working and holding temp just fine...now the real test....im starting to collect chicken eggs and when i get a tray of eggs i will be trying them....and seeing how they work for the pheasant/peafowl season...
