building paradise for the birds

Pics
I have two sets of white crested black ones....but they are not here....

so the quote of the day by our founding father...

"I wish the bald eagle had not been chosen as the representative of our country; he is a bird of bad moral character . . . like those among men who live by sharping and robbing, he is generally poor, and often very lousy . . . the turkey is a much more respectable bird, and withal a true original native of America."
Benjamin Franklin
I love that quote!! i agree, don't you?

Ok, here's the shelf I'm going to use as a brooder. I put a glass insulator near the back for size reference. I think I'm going to start with just the middle three levels, and use the top and bottom as storage. I can also use the bottom for a broody hen, if I ever get one. It's really just the perfect setup and I'm so lucky it was FREE. :D

Do you know what you will bring to MI chickenstock this year birdman?
not really sure what i will be bringing....what would you like...not sure if im a fan of putting birds in a box to let them sit in the hot weather until they are purchased and then if they dont sell then they have to ride back in the hot weather back to the house and have been exposed to all the bio security threats that are out there....

well got super far on the web site...but off to the building i go...

cshaw the brooder looks perfect...i would put a glaze over the wood so it lasts longer and then papertowel down and then sand or chips ontop of that....i will be doing this to all the brooders i build...think it will last longer and it will be better to clean...otherwise it just soaks into the wood...not taking any chances here....
