building paradise for the birds

Pics
well just got done moving the real silver golden to its new home and here are some comparison pics
real silver golden feet...notice how dark they are compared to the other silver golden

notice how much whiter the chest is compared to the other one

almost olive green color...not as olive as the lady Amherst

see the feet...real one on left....and the cinnamon silver golden on right

silver golden left cinnamon silver golden on right

silver golden left and cinnamon golden right

you can see great in this pic...silver golden left and cinnamon golden right...can you see the differences in the chest as well

another good feet comparison
You can definately see a difference between the silver and the cinnamon. i wonder why they are both call silver....

I made a roof rake out of a chunk of 1/8 or 3/16 plastic, a threaded handle socket off of an old window squeegee and use my extendable floor squeegee handle.

Works good for my shed roof(tarped because of unrepaired collapse last year)....but that's only a 5 foot reach.

nobody actually has any proof of how these birds came into existence same with the peach golden...I started a thread in pheasants called silver golden pheasants and actually got into it with someone there about it...she kind of made me feel like crap so I didn't work on the coops for a day cause I was bummed out...but then I realized that there are a lot of people on here that can type whatever they want without proof....so I put my happy face on called the guy that I got the bird from and asked him about the birds silver goldens...and he was apart of the mgba and was the vice president for 20 years and was breeding this kind of mutation since 2001 so he made me happy to know that some people just cant be nice about things and always have to put people down...and I wasn't the first person this lady had put down...my intensions on putting up the post weren't to say I know everything but here are the differences between what I think are two different kinds of silver goldens so I provided proof with pics and the breeders are credible...so then I asked her to post pictures of the birds if she thinks that they are different...(considering she owns a photoshop in Colorado I wouldn't think it would be that hard to do and provide us as readers with some credible credentials you know what I mean) as she just basically told me off telling me to shut my mouth...whatever like I said anyone can sit on there computer and type without some sort of backing that is all that it is I just your opinions...I told her pictures are worth a thousand words... and the guy I got the bird from actually hung out with louie b the guy with the first peach...and got some stock from him...so I know my source is credible...
anyways I thought I would vent...I feel better...lol...
well going out to work...and I am thinking about a temp structure that would be under the tarps so they can take some of the weight...but still gunna wing it for the time being...
I hope this post is informative and helpful to people
AND MY LESSION TO MYSELF ABOUT THIS ADVENTURE WHICH I HAVE ONLY BEEN IN SINCE JUNE DOING...IS THIS...CHECK YOUR RESOURCES AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE SOLID...SOME PEOPLE WILL SELL YOU SOMETHING THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR..AND KEEP YOUR HEAD UP WHEN DOING SUCH PROJECTS THERE SOME PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT JUST WILL TRY AND TEAR YOU DOWN...

well have a good day everyone...and I will see you soon
merry early christmas

well the incubation station is one its way...so the truck should get here today...its in lansing which is three hours from me...and these eggs and going in their...tonight I will mark the air sacks to monitor how the eggs are coming along thru the incubation process...make sure if you are marking the eggs to use a pencil cause markers and such can actually soak into the egg and harm it...not sure how but with the research that I have done that's what is said...figured I would post this

There are people like that everywhere birdman. You just have to remember everyone is wrong atleast now and then and people have so much money/time/energy wrapped up into their birds that everyone gets touchy when you say hey i think maybe this isnt the same type of bird. Because they might be looking at the exact birds your saying may not be what they thought/paid for. Like if someone looked at your Goldens and was like hey thats not a golden, you would likely be upset and probly a little mad you made the mistake of thinking it was and maybe someone possibly ripped you off or sold you something that wasnt pure. But alot of people can't deal with that kind of info or type of thing in their life so they just deny it or make some excused up to themselves or whatnot.

I'm rambling here, just remember take it all with a pinch of salt and don't let anyone make you feel like you can't give/state/discuss your opinions/thoughts/ideas because they dont like them. (unless their an admin lol

great idea prolly work better then the one I have...thanks for the tip...always can use knowledge from more people for it only makes you as a person smarter and more efficient

I use zip ties on chicks. They work amazing. Just have to be sure to check as they grow that they do not get too tight. And change the out when needed. And a toe nail clipper works best for cutting the end. And cutting them off too

Toe nail clippers area good idea!

I have some jewelry sized cutters that work perfect.
Side cutters for trimming tail ends absolutely flush with lock for no sharp corners exposed.
End cutter work great for cutting right thru the lock for removing zipties grown too small, much easier than trying to get side cutter between tie and leg.

The zipties I got are about 1/8" wide and 4" long, great for tiny chicks and fine for adult birds too.

They work good for feathered feeters too fit between the feather shafts

Oh also did i ever mention OH is building an incubator too? Its out of one of those smaller glass fronted wine fridges, should hold about 150 chickens eggs depending on how he decides to do the auto-turners. We found some online for $17 each for the 48eggs ones with motors, i'm planning on ordering one of the quail ones for my bator. Yesterday he spend the day testing out how much ventilation and circulation he needed.

thanks..appreciate it....I actually went thru what your talking about when I first got started...there is a guy in charlexvois Michigan named....s**n no names mentioned and he actually did that to me...sold me birds that he said were red golden hens and Im very new at this and he had a great setup and what I looked up under images in google...which is a bad Idea to do...cause you get everything and anything....but I followed this pic online which looked like the bird he had so I got four of them...came on here and posted and some known breeders informed me that they were a ringneck female...lol...funny mistake but nothing like that will happen again..so I put them in by themselves and got a ringneck male so I have five...and after they lay some eggs they will be processed....and they I can see if this guy was mixing the birds when breeding....I actually found out that he was breeding ringnecks before he got into goldens...from other people that is....I never called him back to say anything....and I m wrong all the time that's y I like to post what im doing and ask so many questions and post so many pics...its for everyone in the world to see and learn from...im sure there are plenty of people viewing that want to get into birds and just don't wanna make the first move because they haven't seen any big breeders and how their setup is and how to take care of them..but with this forum and thread is to show...someone that has never done anything with birds can pick it up at a very fast pace and go thru the ups and downs and to show people them ups and downs and keep moving forward cause I know when all said and done it will be beautiful....(I prolly wont ever be done...lol) but you get my drift...and with the help with other breeders and bird lovers and the info they pass along anyone that wants to enjoy them as a breeder or as a hobby can pick it up with some guidance.
so thanks again for all the info it def helps
